Two and a half

I haven't posted in ages because I've been so busy at work it doesn't leave me much time to blog. I hope things slow down just a little soon. It's really taking a toll on me.

You are doing great as always. Your language skills are incredible and you know many creative ways to express yourself. You have WAY too much energy, but that's pretty normal. A few weeks ago you were babysat by a teenager for the first time - YIKES! It was good though. You were actually asleep before she came over, so there wasn't much to do.

Today is picture day. You went to school with ponytails and ribbons. I can't wait to see how they come out.

And that's all. More later. I just finished taking my first five day dose of clomid. I'm between clomid and ovulation, so who knows what the next few weeks might bring. :)

Long weekend

It was a nice long weekend; it's hard to come back to work today. You had a fun weekend. We went to a baseball game for Auntie Missy's birthday on Friday, then to a party at her house Saturday night. That involved swimming and lots of attention, which are always good things. Sunday we had a pretty lazy day, but you had your favorite lunch (Wendy's chicken nuggets with mandarin oranges and chocolate milk). And yesterday, you got to visit with Grandpa Dan, Grandma Carol, your Great-Grandmother and Great-Grandfather (different families), Uncle Danny and Aunt Kimberly. Uncle Danny left this morning for basic training in the Army, so it was a kind of farewell party. We're very worried about him but think if he can stay safe this will be a good opportunity for him.

You're doing very well with your potty time. I'd say you're using the potty almost 1/2 the time now. Yesterday was the only bad day, and you only used it once I think. The prior days you did really well, even using it twice at Missy's house. And last night you were getting fussy and whiny and when I offered to let you go to bed in your own bed, you took it without hesitation. As long as I left the light on and the door open, you were happy. The funniest part came after I tucked you in. I have this trick if you will when you wake up in the middle of the night. I come in and soothe you, and then whisper "Mommy's going to go pee-pee [babytalk; sorry!], I'll be right back." So last night when I tucked you in, awake and with the light on, you said to me "Okay, Mommy. Go pee-pee now." Ha!

Speaking of funny sleep stories... Sunday you never took a nap and it made for one LONG evening. You'd fallen asleep in the car, but woke up 10 minutes later when I tried to carry you in. So on Monday when you fell asleep in the car, I didn't take chances. Daddy and I drove around for over an hour. With these gas prices! You eventually woke up, and in your groggy still-half-asleep voice said, "Where are the monsters? Daddy, where did they go?" After giggling, we asked you some more questions and it turns out that you were clearly dreaming about monsters and apparently you were chasing and EATING them! I was happy you didn't seem scared, but when it came time for bed that night, the reason the lights were left on is because you were afraid of monsters. I guess you are at that age.

So, back to school today. This weekend we'll be taking a trip to Flagstaff with Auntie Chelle. It will be fun to get away a bit and relax. Daddy will doubtlessly enjoy the quiet break.

FIVE!

That's how many times you went peepee in the potty at home in the last 24 hours. Oh yes, dear readers, FIVE! You seem to have turned a corner, flicked the switch, seen the light, whatever analogy you want to use. I came home from the dentist last night and Daddy proudly pronounced that you had gone in the potty. Sure enough, you went three more times last night, then once again this morning. It's different now. I can see you're ready. When you focus on it, pay attention to what you're doing, you can control the release. They were saying at school that you're holding it a long time so I know you're getting good at that. The trigger would be when you learned how to release at will. Now I think you've got it.

So, you proudly wore four stickers to school this morning (one sadly was removed and de-stickified). I really do hope this is the beginning of your potty days. You're 30.5 months, so it really is time.

Hooray for potty pee!
