Russet Moon

You got to see your first lunar eclipse last night. Though I suppose it should be noted that you really didn't seem to care much. In fact, you were much more concerned about Princess whining at the kitchen door because we dared to go outside without her. Alas, you peered dutifully for a few seconds into the sky when I pointed out the beautiful red moon as it slipped into shadow. We went back inside and you promptly started snoring on my lap. You were a very sleepy girl last night. I'm thinking perhaps you might be starting another round of a cold. Joy.

Tomorrow you're allowed to wear a costume to school. I had been thinking that you wouldn't get to participate because I didn't want to send you in your giant fuzzy ladybug costume. First of all, it's much too cumbersome to be able to play properly all day. Secondly, I didn't want it to get ruined! Then it dawned on me that Grandma and Grandpa gave you some costumes last year, including a cow one. I pulled it out of the closet and it's really cute - and size 18 months! It also doesn't have feet, just leg openings, so you can wear your normal shoes. The other two have feet built-in and I didn't think that would be very appropriate for school.

So I guess this year you get to be a cow AND a ladybug. Lucky you! I'll make sure to take pictures, of course.

Blogger - HELP!

We interrupt this regularly-scheduled blog to ask for technical assistance. Could someone please look at my main blog and tell me what's going on there? I had a template issue (Blogger stupidly cut off a publishing session and chopped off all the post code for the whole blog). I tried re-creating it, but the posts won't show up. I've cross-checked it with this one and all the Blogger templates and something is still wrong. It's feeding to the RSS/XML, so I know the posts are there, but they won't show on the main page. What am I missing?!

New pictures

Uploaded a couple of new pictures to her 18-24 month album. If you haven't visited in a while, there are some cute new ones. :)

If you want access, just ask!!! Even if you're a new(er) reader or lurker, I'll let you in. I just don't have it public to avoid people stealing my daughter's photos as their own. I'm more than willing to show her off to legit people who just want to see how incredibly cute - and BIG! - she is. Heh heh.

I *heart* Janie and Jack

I mean, really, does it get any cuter than this?

Feed me!

Okay, so I put up a site feed. This is all new to me, and I am trying to understand it and why it's so good for some people. But just in case it floats your boat, give 'er a whirl and let me know if it works! Cheers!

Buh-bye!

I love that you talk so much now. It really does crack me up. Such a big girl. I'm not sure I could list everything you say, but you know me... I'll try. :) Here's the quick list I can remember of words I have either heard you say more than once or you say regularly:

Buh-bye (plus fill-in-the-blank: Daddy, Mommy, Baby, Binkie, Elmo, etc. etc.)
Melmo (Elmo)
Mommy
Daddy
Baby
I love you
Mamaw (Grandma)
Bee (also sometimes Beebee = Binkie)
Doggie
Pincess (Princess - the dog)
BALL! (most commonly said word in our house, and the only word you will say when talking on the phone?!)
What's that?
Car
Go
Bah, Bah-bah or Bah-nah (banana)
Cackeh (cracker)
Milk
Wa-wa (water, agua)
Cup
Cahtoon (cartoon)
Poop
Pooh (as in Winnie the...)
Minnie
Owie
Bubble! (this words means "bath")
Uh-oh
Shoe
Sock
NO!
Book

Edited to add additional words:
Mine! (thanks, Chris)
Cacka (cracker)
Juice
and the best one so far - hee hee - "Go Sox!" (of course, it's more like "Go daws!" but that's close enough)

Eh, that's all I can remember right now. You're saying quite a lot now that I look at the list. And they're more clear all the time. It's pretty fun.

I thought we'd end up staying home today. Your teacher thought you had a fever and you were acting sick all evening. Very clingy and sleepy. I thought we'd have a horrible night. You fell asleep around 7, then woke up around 9:15. I gave you some Benadryl and Tylenol (no fever actually, but you acted like something hurt), and you fell back asleep and stayed there until 6:30 a.m.! Hurrah! This morning, you were awake and cheerful and low temperature'd. I shipped you off to school and hopefully it was just something random. You have a tiny bit of diaper rash which might have been frustrating things some. But I am really busy at work and Daddy's doing a practicum at a school today and tomorrow so we really need you to not get sick until Friday. Good? Good. And Grandma's out of town until Friday too so she can't help. Hopefully you're fine and it's a non-issue.

Incidentally, you've had a lot of - uh - unpleasant intestinal manifestations (read: poop) lately. I have decided to go ahead and seek out a Celiac Disease blood test for you. Not that I actually think you have it, but I admit it's a possibility. And most importantly, I want to just be able to rule it out and stop wondering. If I don't know for sure, then everytime you have diarrhea or random painful cries it makes me wonder if maybe - just maybe - you do actually have it. So, let's just find out and put that one to bed. And if you do... Well, better the Devil you know and all that, right? You'll get your flu shot next Friday so I'll ask for a pediatric gastroenterologist referral then. Yay.

And how 'bout them Sox? Dang that was a good game. Riot gear and all.

+ So, what's new? +
You're still not sleeping great. I'm not sure if you still are fighting a bug or what, but you haven't had a fever or anything in a week. I think it's just a developmental stage. Thankfully last night you slept without needing Benadryl, though you had trouble falling asleep and woke up earlier than I would have preferred. Alas, hopefully you'll get back on track.

Last weekend we enjoyed a nice visit to the Fair with Grandma and Grandpa Fricke and Aunt Angel. You got to ride a few more rides, and I can't wait to see the pictures of those when I get them developed. We also picked up a pumpkin on Sunday and hopefully you'll get to help paint that this coming weekend.

+ Super short update +
You had your first visit to the Arizona State Fair today. Even rode a couple of rides. Unfortunately, I think you have another ear infection so you weren't completely your normal cheerful self. You'll have to feel better before we go back to the Fair on Saturday with your other Grandma and Grandpa.

+ Potty travails +
We've had two days of potty pee this week. Hurrah. Of course, today you have a horrible diaper rash. Sucks too. You haven't had one of those in a very long time and you're definitely NOT happy about it. Every little shift of clothing or required contact of your bottom with anything (i.e. sitting in a car seat) prompts a new round of horrified screaming. :( I hope you're feeling better soon.
